Our aim is to treat your child specifically according to their needs and the latest guidelines. In addition to the U2-U11 check-ups and the J1 and J2 examinations, we offer you individual vaccination advice and all recommended standard vaccinations. Our range of services also includes ultrasound examinations and further diagnostics:

Pediatric cardiology

We offer comprehensive pediatric cardiology diagnostics in our practice.

In addition to the medical history and physical check-up, ECG and echocardiography (ultrasound examination of the heart) are among the most important components of a cardiological diagnosis. We have state-of-the-art equipment at our disposal.

We also have long-term ECG (recording of an ECG over 24-48 hours), long-term blood pressure measurement (repeated blood pressure measurements over 24 hours) and an exercise ECG.

This enables us to provide comprehensive care and treatment for children of all ages, from newborns to adolescents.

Part of our range of services is the clarification of heart murmurs, cardiac arrhythmias and the pre- and post-operative/interventional care of children with congenital or acquired heart defects.

Close cooperation with the pediatric cardiology department of the Westpfalz-Klinikum Kaiserslautern enables us to carry out interventional cardiac catheterization and electrophysiological examinations.

Neonatology

From many years of experience in the intensive care unit for premature babies, we know what you have had to go through as parents of premature babies or seriously ill newborns and the problems you may be confronted with - often even after you have been discharged from hospital.

We therefore offer a special neonatology consultation to make the often difficult transition to the home environment easier for you. This always takes place on Thursdays between 9 and 11 am.

We can discuss possible problems in a quiet surrounding and respond to your child individually. In addition to planning check-ups such as ultrasound examinations of the heart, ophthalmological check-ups, or developmental neurological follow-up care, as well as the socio-pediatric care of your family.

We also offer immunization against the RSV virus for your child using the Beyfortus® vaccine, when indicated.

Breastfeeding advice

Breastfeeding your child is not always as easy as society often makes it out to be. We would like to encourage you to discuss all concerns and problems relating to breastfeeding, handling breast milk or expressing during a breastfeeding consultation.

Valerie Hörhammer supports you as a freelance breastfeeding and lactation consultant in the relaxed and confidential atmosphere at your home. She addresses your questions individually to provide you and your baby with an optimal breastfeeding experience and to alleviate any uncertainties.

IGeL services

Individual health services in the pediatric practice are useful and desirable services, which are not paid for by health insurance companies and the costs must therefore be taken by patients or their parents.

We are offering the following IGeL services:

Kindergarden entry examination
Nursery and kindergarden examinations
Vaccination certificates
Sports fitness examination
Kidney ultrasound in the 1st year of life
Ultrasound of the skull/brain through the open fontanel
Travel medical advice including vaccination advice
Prenatal pediatric consultation (U0)
Preventive check-ups (U10, U11, J2)

Prenatal Pediatric consultation (U0) in our pediatric practice in Winnweiler

As parents-to-be, our practice offers you the new U0 examination. Within the 28th week of pregnancy, parents can ask the many questions they may have before the birth of their child in a pediatric consultation and get to know your future pediatrician in advance.

Questions about children's health such as the basic medical examinations after birth U1 and U2, with metabolic and hearing screening, and the U3 are discussed. As well as vitamin D, K and fluoride prophylaxis and typical illnesses for newborns are topics. General information on breastfeeding problems, vaccinations for mother and child as well as safety aspects for the baby. Information on regional support services is also part of the screening.

We offer the U0 as a group and individual appointment. You are welcome to bring an accompanying person with you. For those insured with BKK as part of the BKK-Starke-Kids contract, this is already free of charge or can be carried out as an IGeL service in our practice. You will receive a receipt which you can submit to your health insurance company with a request for reimbursement.
